        Introduced  by  Sen.  LIBOUS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation --  commit-

          by  Senate and delivered to the Assembly, recalled, vote reconsidered,

        AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to amending the description
          of the "Senator Warren M. Anderson  Expressway"  and  in  relation  to
          designating  a  portion  of the state highway system in the village of
          Port Dickinson, in the county of Broome, as the  "Officer  Aldo  Rossi
          Junior Memorial Highway"
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1.  Section 342-u of the highway law, as added by chapter  430
     2  of the laws of 1989, is amended to read as follows:

     3    §  342-u.  Portion  of  the  state  highway system to be designated as
     4  "Senator Warren M. Anderson Expressway".  [That  portion  of  the  state
     5  highway  system]  The  entire  length  of  interstate route eighty-eight
     6  beginning at [the] its intersection [of route seven and] with interstate
     7  eighty-one in or about the [city  of  Binghamton,  continuing  north  on
     8  route  seven  to  interstate route eighty-eight in or about the] town of
     9  Chenango,  continuing  [northeast  on  interstate  route   eighty-eight]
    10  northeasterly  to  its intersection with interstate route ninety at exit
    11  twenty-five-A of the New York state thruway in  or  about  the  city  of
    12  Schenectady[,  and continuing east on interstate route ninety and termi-

    13  nating at exit twenty-four of the New York state thruway in or about the
    14  city of Albany] shall be designated and known as the "Senator Warren  M.
    15  Anderson Expressway".
    16    § 2.  The highway law is amended by adding a new section 343-x to read
    17  as follows:

     1    §  343-x.  Portion  of  state  highway  system to be designated as the
     2  "Officer Aldo Rossi Junior Memorial Highway".  All that portion  of  the
     3  state  highway  system  constituting  New  York state route seven in the

     4  village of Port Dickinson, county of Broome, beginning at  the  northern
     5  boundary  of  the city of Binghamton, continuing northerly to its inter-
     6  section with interstate route eighty-eight  in  or  about  the  town  of
     7  Fenton,  also  in the county of Broome, shall be designated and known as
     8  the "Officer Aldo Rossi Junior Memorial Highway".
     9    § 3. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the  instal-
    10  lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
    11  as designated pursuant to sections one and two of this act. However,  to
    12  avoid  confusion  and  to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the
    13  designation called for pursuant to sections one  and  two  of  this  act
    14  shall  be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway
    15  shall not be changed as a result of this act.

    16    § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
