        Introduced  by  Sen.  DeFRANCISCO -- read twice and ordered printed, and
          when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to collision  or  compre-
          hensive coverage on motor vehicles
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Subsection (c) of section 2610 of  the  insurance  law,  as
     2  added by chapter 236 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows:
     3    (c)  The  insurer  shall  provide (other than a claim solely involving
     4  window glass) a copy of its repair estimate to the insured that includes
     5  the following disclosure, plainly printed in no less than 12 point type:
     6  "PURSUANT TO SECTION 2610 OF THE INSURANCE  LAW,  AN  INSURANCE  COMPANY
     7  CANNOT  REQUIRE  THAT REPAIRS BE MADE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE IN A PARTICULAR
     8  PLACE OR REPAIR SHOP. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE YOUR  VEHICLE  REPAIRED
     9  IN THE SHOP OF YOUR CHOICE".
    10    §  2.  This  act  shall  take  effect on the same date and in the same
    11  manner as chapter 236 of the laws of 2016, takes effect.
