        Introduced  by  Sen.  CROCI  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance
 
        AN ACT to amend the executive law,  in  relation  to  prohibiting  regu-
          lations,  rules  or executive orders directing the state police to not
          assist with the enforcement of federal law or cooperate  with  federal
          law enforcement

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 233 to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 233. Prohibition against  regulations,  rules  or  executive  orders
     4  directing the state police to not assist with the enforcement of federal
     5  law  or to not cooperate with federal law enforcement. 1. No employee of
     6  the state police, including the superintendent, or any trooper, investi-
     7  gator or other officer, shall be directed by any state regulation,  rule
     8  or executive order, to not assist with the enforcement of federal law or
     9  to  not  cooperate with federal law enforcement in the effort to enforce
    10  any provision of federal law.
    11    2. Any state regulation, rule or executive order directing  the  state
    12  police,  including  the  superintendent, or any trooper, investigator or
    13  other officer, to not assist with the enforcement of federal law  or  to
    14  not  cooperate with federal law enforcement in the effort to enforce any
    15  provision of federal law, shall be deemed invalid, null and void.
    16    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
