Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8982 IN SENATE April 5, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SCARCELLA-SPANTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the definition of caregiver for purposes of authorizing criminal history checks The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of section 837-n of the 2 executive law, as added by chapter 3 of the laws of 1998, is amended to 3 read as follows: 4 (a) "Caregiver" shall mean a person employed to provide [fifteen or5more hours of] care [per week] to a child or children in the home of 6 such a child or children. 7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD04706-01-3
