        Introduced  by Sens. MATTERA, BORRELLO, BOYLE, OBERACKER, ORTT, PALUMBO,
          RITCHIE, STEC, TEDISCO, WEIK -- read twice and  ordered  printed,  and
          when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend the penal law, in relation to exempting retired peace
          officers from the crime of criminal possession of a firearm, rifle  or
          shotgun in a sensitive location

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section  265.01-e  of  the  penal  law  is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph (d-1) to read as follows:
     3    (d-1)  persons  who  were  employed as peace officers as designated by
     4  section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law but are retired;
     5    § 2. This act shall take effect on the  same  date  and  in  the  same
     6  manner as section 4 of chapter 371 of the laws of 2022, takes effect.
