        AN  ACT  to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to clarifying
          regulations  requiring  transportation  network  company  cars  to  be
          distinguishable
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 5 of section 1696 of the  vehicle  and  traffic
     2  law,  as  added  by  section  2 of part AAA of chapter 59 of the laws of
     3  2017, is amended to read as follows:
     4    5. The department shall promulgate regulations to ensure that each TNC
     5  vehicle is easily identified as such and that the TNC for which the  TNC
     6  driver  is  providing the TNC service or TNC prearranged trip is distin-
     7  guishable.  For the purposes of this section, distinguishable  shall  be
     8  satisfied  by affixing an illuminated fixture, subject to the provisions
     9  of subdivision forty-one of section three hundred seventy-five  of  this
    10  chapter,  to  the TNC driver's rooftop displaying the insignia, name, or
    11  title of the TNC. Such marking shall be [in such] subject to the form as
    12  is approved by the commissioner, and shall  be  attached[,  affixed]  or
    13  displayed in such manner as he or she may [prescribe by] clarify through
    14  regulation.
    15    §  2.  This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after its shall
    16  have become a law.
