          on Governmental Operations
 
        AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation  to  permitting  a  local
          legislative  body  to overturn an emergency order of a chief executive
          upon a vote of two-thirds of its members
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 24 of the executive law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision 9 to read as follows:
     3    9. Six months after the effective date of a local emergency order, the
     4  legislative body of which such state of emergency  is  declared  by  the
     5  chief  executive  may overturn such local emergency order upon a vote of
     6  two-thirds of its members.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
