          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
        AN ACT to amend the  social  services  law,  in  relation  to  providing
          menstrual  products at no cost to adults and children receiving tempo-
          rary shelter
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  152-c  of the social services law, as added by a
     2  chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the social services law relating to
     3  providing feminine hygiene products at no cost to  adults  and  children
     4  receiving temporary housing assistance, as proposed in legislative bills
     5  numbers S. 6572 and A. 529-A, is amended to read as follows:
     6    §  152-c.  [Feminine  hygiene]  Menstrual  products.   Any provider of
     7  temporary [housing assistance, which shall include but  not  be  limited
     8  to, a family shelter, a shelter for adults, a hotel, an emergency apart-
     9  ment, a domestic violence shelter, a runaway and homeless youth shelter,
    10  or  a safe house for refugees,] shelter that is reimbursed from state or
    11  state-administered grants or funds shall be required to  provide  [femi-
    12  nine hygiene] an adequate number of menstrual products commensurate with
    13  an  individual's needs, including, but not limited to, sanitary napkins,
    14  tampons and panty liners,  at  no  cost  to  [menstruating]  individuals
    15  requiring  such products. For purposes of this section, "temporary shel-
    16  ter" shall include but not be limited to a family shelter, a shelter for
    17  adults, a hotel, an emergency apartment, a domestic violence shelter,  a
    18  runaway and homeless youth shelter, or a safe house for refugees.
    19    §  2.  This  act  shall  take  effect on the same date and in the same
    20  manner as a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the social services law
    21  relating to providing feminine hygiene products at no cost to adults and
    22  children receiving temporary housing assistance, as proposed in legisla-
    23  tive bills numbers S. 6572 and A.529-A, takes effect.
