On Thursday, August 30, Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) will sponsor a blood drive between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Lewiston Fire Hall Co. No. 1 at 145 No. 6th Street in Lewiston. The drive is part of the American Red Cross’s summer campaign to collect blood from people with A, B and O blood types. Hospitals often run short of these three main blood types during the summer months and the campaign will work to raise the number of critical donations. Donors may call 1-800-REDCROSS to schedule an appointment, but walk-ins are always welcome.
“It’s a privilege to sponsor this summer blood drive that will save countless lives in New York state,” said Morinello. “Donating blood is one of the most generous and life-changing things we can do to help our local communities, and I’m always honored to partner with the American Red Cross at its local events. Blood is always in high demand in our state and not nearly enough eligible donors participate in their local blood drives. I encourage all eligible donors in Lewiston to come out with their friends and family to donate and help save lives.”
