Morinello Encouraged By Gov Cuomo’s Support Of Bill Supporting Gold Star Families

A statement from Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) in reaction to the governor’s endorsement of a bill (A.2991) to provide free college tuition to family members of New York state military personnel who lost their lives performing their military duties

“Since this bill was voted down in committee on Tuesday, outrage has been the collective response by many New Yorkers, including Gov. Cuomo. Yesterday, the governor announced he would support free college for Gold Star children, a major win for supporters of the bill, and more importantly, the families who lost a loved one in the line of duty. This news is encouraging and shows there’s still hope to vote it into law this year. I’m thankful the governor did the right thing and voiced his support for this impactful bill. I urge the rest of the Legislature to put party politics aside and advance it to the floor for a vote.”
