Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R,C,I-Lyons) joined his colleagues with the Assembly and Senate Minority Conferences for a press conference on Monday, June 7 pushing for the termination of the state’s disaster emergency, which has been in place for the past 15 months.

“The time has come for us to move forward and start to focus on helping New York recover from all aspects of the pandemic,” said Manktelow. “In order to do this, we must remove the disaster emergency declaration that was put in place last year. Numbers are down, and we had the lowest average positivity rate in the nation as of the beginning of June. In the Finger Lakes region the seven-day positive test average is 1 percent and the 14-day positive test average is 1.4 percent. Over the past 15 months, we have pushed for the governor’s power to be rolled back or checked. Enough is enough. We must move forward from this horrific pandemic and start helping the residents of New York heal.”
