Ra Honors 13 Local Women of Distinction

Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) was proud to present the 2024 Women of Distinction awards this past Saturday, Sept. 21, at Adelphi University’s Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom to 13 honorees, one emerging leader and one special recognition in the community. Ra hosts Women of Distinction annually to recognize the contributions of outstanding women in the 19th Assembly District.

Sophia Probst of Mineola High School performed the National Anthem and Mary Grace Tomecki delivered the keynote speech. Also joining Ra at the ceremony were local elected officials—Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jen DeSena, Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Hempstead Dorothy Goosby and Rep. Anthony D’Esposito all shared remarks about the outstanding honorees.

“The women honored today do the incredible work they do not for the sake of recognition but because they have a deep commitment to making our community a better place for everyone. This event is our chance to recognize and support the remarkable contributions they make in areas like education, health care, veterans’ affairs and community service,” Ra said.

“It only takes a moment to express gratitude to those who impact our lives in such meaningful ways. I am deeply thankful to all the amazing women nominated this year and to every woman who strives to improve our district. I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Adelphi University for generously hosting this year’s event and helping us celebrate these exceptional individuals,” Ra concluded.

Congratulations to the 2024 Women of Distinction honorees!
