Assemblyman Ed Ra Presents Capitol-Flown Flag to Meadow Drive School

Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) joined Assemblyman Daniel Norber (R,C-Great Neck) and Principal Jennie Fahey on Tuesday, June 24, to visit second-grade students at Meadow Drive School and present the school with an American flag that was flown over the State Capitol in Albany.

Although the visit was rescheduled from the traditional Flag Day observance due to legislative session commitments, the message and meaning behind the occasion remained front and center. Students learned about the origins of Flag Day, the history of the American flag and the proper etiquette for handling and displaying it with respect.

“It’s always a special pleasure to engage with young students and help them better understand the symbols that define our country,” said Ra. “When students understand the meaning behind the flag, it helps them feel more connected to their community and national identity. Sharing that history with the next generation is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I’m grateful to Meadow Drive School for the warm welcome and for making civic education a priority.”
