Legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-19th District), Assemblyman Brian Curran and Assemblywoman Michele Titus to address aircraft noise passed the Assembly. This bill, requiring the Port Authority to conduct an aircraft noise impact study, and designating federal funding for mitigation measures, passed the state Senate last month and now is awaiting Governor Cuomo’s signature. Ra was pleased to see his bill passed and looks forward to having the serious issue of noise pollution on Long Island addressed in the near future.

“I’m pleased that my legislation concerning aircraft noise passed the Assembly before the end of Legislative Session this week. With the massive increase in air traffic over Long Island leading an unacceptable rise in noise pollution, the action laid out in this bill had to happen,” said Ra. “By better determining the use of certain runways and flight paths and by making available federal funding to remedy this issue, we can fix this important quality of life issue for Long Island and make it an even better place to work and live.”
