Cuomo Administration Makes Best Case Yet for Our Subpoena Push by Admitting Cover-Up on Zoom Call with Majority Leaders
A statement by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square)
“Add federal prosecutors to the ever-growing list of people this administration has stonewalled and deceived. During a secret meeting with Majority lawmakers, the governor’s top staffer admitted that they covered up the scope of the nursing home crisis to stymie the Department of Justice.
“She apologized for putting her fellow Majority in a tough political position. She did not apologize for a March 25 Executive Order forcing nursing homes to take COVID-19 patients. She did not apologize for DOH guidance allowing COVID-19 positive nurses to work shifts. She did not apologize for the lack of PPE and basic medical supplies. She did not apologize for caving to politically connected nursing home executives and granting them legal immunity.
“I hope my colleagues in the Assembly are finally ready to subpoena top administration officials so we can get answers for thousands of families who lost loved ones. I hope my colleagues are finally ready to join us in revoking the governor’s emergency powers and restoring checks and balances. We’ve never needed them more,” said Ra.
