Ra Blasts Assembly Majority for Protecting Cuomo’s Emergency Powers
A Statement by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square)
“Assembly Majority faced a simple choice: either work with Minority members to remove emergency powers from a disgraced governor under investigation by the Department of Justice and the attorney general’s office or play politics and protect his unilateral authority just because he’s a Majority politician. They chose wrong. They’re so reflexively opposed to bipartisanship they won’t do something they know they need to do just because the Minority wants them to do it. It’s pretty crazy. It would be humorous if it wasn’t such a deeply unsettling affront to the New Yorkers whose family members died alone in nursing homes, to the women who are bravely coming forward and sharing their stories of harassment and to citizens who respect our constitution. This is a new low for the Legislature,” said Ra.
