Jacobson Announces $25K in Funding for the Poughkeepsie Public Library District
Yesterday, Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-104) announced a $25,000 special Assembly grant to the Poughkeepsie Public Library for a satellite branch at the Family Partnership Center. He was joined at the announcement by Tom Lawrence (Poughkeepsie Public Library District Director), Dianne Blazek (Library Board of Trustees President), and Whitney Humphrey and Tanysha Casellas Stewart from Family Services.
Assemblymember Jacobson said, “A library does no good if it is inaccessible to the people who need it, so I am proud to have been able to secure the Poughkeepsie Public Library District a $25,000 Assembly grant that will help develop its satellite branch in the Family Partnership Building.
“The Family Partnership offers many services to Poughkeepsie residents. Now, this satellite branch will provide, not only reading material and computers, but a safe space for young people in the surrounding neighborhoods to study and spend time with their friends,” concluded Jacobson.
Tom Lawrence said, “We are thrilled to accept this generous donation and expect the library to be up and running by early next year.”
Dianne Blazek said, “I am so pleased to see this branch finally come to fruition. As a reading specialist myself, there’s nothing I love more than getting books into the hand of readers.”
Whitney Humphrey said, “I look forward to seeing families and children running up the stairs to use these facilities.”
Tanysha Casellas Stewart, said “I welcome the collaboration between all the individuals and groups who are making this happen.”
