On Thursday, New York State Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie announced the appointment of Assemblymember Karen McMahon (D-Amherst) as Chair of the Committee on Ethics and Guidance.

“I am honored to accept this appointment as Chair of the Assembly Ethics and Guidance Committee,” said Assemblymember McMahon. “I look forward to working with the members of my committee to ensure that the Legislature fulfills its duties in accordance with the highest ethical standards.”

Assemblymember McMahon also serves as the Co-Chair of the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission, and as a member of the Committees on Environmental Conservation, Higher Education, Judiciary, Libraries and Education Technology, People with Disabilities, and Transportation. She is also a Director of the Legislative Women’s Caucus and a member of the Task Force on Women’s Issues.
