Slater Honors Women of Distinction
Over the weekend Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) honored Women of Distinction from each town within the 94th District who go above and beyond personally and professionally and serve as an example of the values of their communities. The women honored were Cindy Smith of Yorktown, Amy Sayegh of Carmel, Vivian Burdick of Southeast, Tara Flynn-Austin of Kent, Joan Stubbs of Putnam Valley, Meg Cairney of Patterson and Katie O’Keefe of Somers. Slater was joined in celebrating these women by many local elected officials
“These are incredible individuals who have had a profound impact on our communities, on our neighbors and our friends. It is important we take time to celebrate them, celebrate their achievements and raise them up so they can inspire others to do equally good work,” said Slater.
“Amy exemplifies the spirit of caring that I believe makes our community great. In times of despair or tragedy the people in Carmel have always stepped up to help, providing comfort through acts of kindness or financially. Amy volunteers and helps through her not-for-profit organization making the lives of those in need a little brighter and easier,” said Carmel Town Supervisor Mike Cazarri.
“The work that Cindy provides our town and those surrounding it is fundamental to the health and well-being of our residents. We are so proud to honor her today,” said Yorktown Town Supervisor Tom Diana.
“I have had the privilege of knowing Vivian for a long time. I know she takes the most pride in her family and all her years of health, happiness and we are thrilled to recognize her today,” said Southeast Town Supervisor Tony Hay.
“Lt. Flynn is an essential part of not just our police department but our entire community. We are proud to honor all of her accomplishments today,” said Kent Town Supervisor Jaime McGlasson.
“Joan has been heard laughing at the circulation desk ever since she began working at the Putnam Valley Library. She is so deserving of this award, and we are beyond thrilled to be with her today to celebrate,” said Putnam Town Supervisor Jackie Annabi.
“Kate is a kind, compassionate, and creative person and The Town of Somers is proud to have Kate O’Keefe serving in our community and I am honored to be part of the celebration today,” said Somers Councilman Anthony Cirieco.
