Career Fair Coming to Yorktown
Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) and Deputy Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman, along with the Westchester-Putnam Career Center are pleased to announce the ‘North of I-287’ Career Fair scheduled for May 1st, 2024, at the Albert A. Capellini Community Cultural Center from 10 am to 2 pm. This event, featuring leaders and staff from local businesses, state and county government agencies, non-profits, and public education, aims to provide valuable resources and bridge the gap between the unemployed and skilled workforces.
New York’s severe affordability crisis, characterized by soaring housing costs, utility bills, and basic expenses like groceries, coupled with a significant decline in the workforce, Slater urges individuals to attend and explore career opportunities and resources available.
“I’m proud to team up with the Westchester-Putnam Career Center and look forward to bringing qualified employers and eager employees together to help facilitate more jobs in the 94th district,” said Slater.
The Westchester-Putnam Career Center has hosted many career fairs however, the need to host a career fair in Northern Westchester was evident and Yorktown was sought out as the best place to host it.
“We are happy to be hosting the career fair here in Yorktown. We always strive to work with our residents and our businesses as we balance our Town. This is the perfect marriage as we help introduce the employees and the employers to each other.” Said Ed Lachterman, Deputy Town Supervisor.
“We are eager to collaborate with our governmental and business partners north of I-287 to ensure that employment opportunities are made available to job seekers throughout Westchester County.” Thom Kleiner, Executive Director of Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board.
Some of the companies who are looking to employ qualified individuals and will be attending the fair include Putnam County Savings Bank, ARC Mid-Hudson, AFC Urgent Care, NYS Department of Civil Service, and many more!
