Slater Celebrates Veterans at 2nd Annual Veterans Luncheon
Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) was thrilled to once again host a luncheon in honor of Hudson Valley veterans for a second year. In partnership with local grocer Stop & Shop, as well as Rep. Mike Lawler, Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne, Putnam County Clerk Mike Bartolotti, and Putnam County Veterans Services Director Karl Rohde, they were able to feed and celebrate 60 of Putnam’s veterans in another successful luncheon. The event was also a chance to recognize veterans with the Putnam County Service Medal, which were presented by Clerk Bartolotti.
“I’m so proud we were able to hold this event for a second year to show our gratitude to the veterans of our community,” Slater said. “This event would not have been possible without the partnership of the offices of Putnam County and our generous partners at Stop & Shop. The opportunity to step up and give thanks to the men and women who gave so much for us is one I will always take because they absolutely deserve it.”
“I’m lucky to have partners in government like Assemblyman Matt Slater, Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne and Putnam County Clerk Michael Bartolotti, who care as deeply about serving our veterans as I do,” Rep. Lawler said. “Whether it’s partnering at events like these or fighting for additional funding for veterans medical care and benefits at all levels of government, I’m thankful for their ongoing partnership in ensuring our veterans receive the attention they deserve.”
“Any opportunity we can take to really listen to the concerns of our veterans has to be made a priority,” Executive Byrne said. “Assemblyman Slater’s luncheon and Veterans town hall meeting was extremely productive and informative. Unfortunately, because of the heat, we couldn’t be at our county Veterans Memorial Park, but it was a wonderful afternoon at the VFW nonetheless. I thank him and his office for organizing it and look forward to the next one!”
“Thank you to our veterans for your service to our nation, and for your participation in yesterday's event,” Clerk Bartolotti said. “Hats off to Assemblyman Slater for providing the opportunity for our veteran's community to gather and interact with their elected officials to discuss issues that matter to their community.”
“The veterans of the Putnam community are inspiring, and I look forward to continuing this annual tradition of giving thanks for many years after this,” Slater concluded.
