Slater to Hold Second Annual Diaper Drive Throughout the Month of February

Diapers are an essential need for all babies, yet half of U.S. families with young children struggle to afford them. To help address this challenge, Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) is hosting a Diaper Drive throughout February to support the efforts of Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP). Those who wish to support the cause can drop off donations at designated locations throughout the 94th Assembly District, helping to provide every child with the essentials needed for a healthy and strong beginning.

“Keeping infants and toddlers clean, dry and healthy is essential to building the strong foundation every child needs to reach their full potential,” said Slater. “I’m proud to once again partner with Putnam CAP to support our local families. Taking just a moment to visit your nearest drop-off location can make a meaningful difference. New York’s affordability crisis is affecting many families, and this is one way we can come together to support our neighbors.”

Marisa O’Leary, director of the Putnam Community Action Partnership, said, “Diapers are a basic necessity for all infants and toddlers. When families cannot afford them, it not only results in potential health issues but also stress and hardship, which can often lead to parents needing to choose between buying diapers or other essentials like food or rent. Putnam CAP is grateful for Assemblyman Slater's support in ensuring that all families have equitable access to diapers, thereby supporting the overall health of our community.”

All sizes of diapers are needed, with a particular emphasis on larger sizes (such as 5, 6, and pull-ups), as well as wipes. Donations will be collected from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28 at designated locations throughout the 94th Assembly District.
