Franklin Square, NY – September 4 – Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages and the office of New York State Attorney General Letitia James will be hosting a Homeowners and Housing Workshop at the Franklin Square Public Library on Saturday, September 21st. The workshop will bring together organizations specializing in housing and utilities to inform constituents about programs available to help homeowners, tenants, and landlords.

The workshop will feature contributions from Community Development Long Island, the State of New York Mortgage Agency, Long Island Housing Services, and the Public Utility Law Project of New York. The office of Attorney General James (OAG) will be presenting important information about deed theft, a growing practice where the title to a home is taken without the homeowner’s knowledge, through forgery or fraud. This predatory practice has been impacting our most vulnerable homeowners, and the OAG will be giving out information on how to protect yourself from deed theft.

Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages praised this partnership with the OAG to put on the event, stating, "Housing has been a critical concern for people across Long Island, with high interest rates, rising rents, and predatory practices making housing and homeownership increasingly difficult. We want the community to know the different programs available to them that can help secure and maintain stable housing.
