Assemblywoman Solages Hosts Small Business Hurricane Preparedness Workshop

The aftermath of Superstorm Sandy left many unanswered questions and concerns; especially for Small Business Owners whose businesses were impacted by the devastating effects of the storm. The Hurricane Preparedness Workshop featured presentations from FEMA, Assemblyman William Scarborough - Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Small Business, Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, and Project Hope. The workshop provided resources and materials for small business owners to be better prepared in the event of a natural disaster.

Planning for a natural disaster ahead of time can save a business owner thousands of dollars. Advanced planning and preparation is crucial to being prepared, and can assure speedy recovery, reduce insurance premiums, protect your property and reduce economic loss. Every business should have a business emergency disaster and recovery plan.

Small businesses are the backbone of our community and we must continue to work together to ensure that small businesses and small business owners have the necessary resources needed to thrive. This workshop, is the first in many steps my office is implementing to help small business owners prepare for natural disasters.

If you are a small business owner and would like to request the materials reviewed at this workshop please call 516-599-2972 or email me at solagesm@assembly.state.ny.us.
