Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte (D-Brooklyn) is proud to announce the 2018 Women of Distinction Awards to recognize the incredible women who are going above and beyond to strengthen Brooklyn and create a brighter future for all. Awards will be given for work in various fields, including the arts and entertainment, business, education, community engagement, and lifetime achievement. Awardees will be honored at an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 8, 2018 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Brooklyn College Campus Library in the Woody Tanger Auditorium, 2900 Bedford Avenue.
"This March, let's not only celebrate Women's History Month by honoring the women of the past who broke down barriers and shattered glass ceilings, but also recognize the women of today who are speaking up, inspiring others and working hard to put our community on a better path," said Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte. "There will never be enough ways to thank them, but these Women of Distinction Awards are part of how we can show our appreciation."
This year’s awardees are: Cassandra Piton for arts and entertainment, Dorensa Emmanuel-Roberts for business and entrepreneurship, Laurie Maslow for education, Bazah Roohi for community engagement, and Bishop Sylveta A. Hamilton-Gonzalez for lifetime achievement.
