Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) is sponsoring a series of blood drives hosted by the Red Cross throughout the month of July, and is encouraging all residents able to attend to help hospitals save lives. There is currently an especially strong need for blood in Western New York, especially Type-O blood. These donations are needed to prevent a future shortage, which would jeopardize the ability of local hospitals to conduct critical procedures.
Those over the age of 18 who are feeling healthy and eligible are encouraged to download the free Red Cross Blood Donor app, visit their Web site or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to schedule their appointments.
