"Far too many families, not just around Long Island but throughout New York State, have suffered the tragic loss of loved ones as a result of reckless, negligent or intoxicated boating, but also because far too many boaters just don't know how to safely operate their vessels in our waterways," said Assemblymember Stern, discussing legislation he co-sponsored, known as Brianna's Law, to require that operators of mechanically propelled vessels complete a boating safety course. A.9806
