Blankenbush To Assembly Majority: Let’s Do The Right Thing, Let’s Make Sure We Deliver Equality To New York’s Women

Statement from Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River)

“I have always been supportive of passing women’s equality measures. Now is the time to set aside the political posturing and bring these common sense items to the Assembly floor for a vote like the Senate did today. The Senate is voting on nine important women’s equality bills as we speak. I join Gov. Cuomo and Senator Ritchie in supporting the following women’s equality issues, each of which deserve their own up-or-down vote:

  1. Pay equity;
  2. Sexual harassment;
  3. Attorneys fees in discrimination cases;
  4. Discrimination of family status;
  5. Domestic violence victims housing discrimination;
  6. Protection orders;
  7. Electronic filing of petitions for temporary orders of protection;
  8. Trafficking victims protection and justice act; and
  9. Pregnancy discrimination protections.

“We cannot let women’s equality fall by the wayside. We must deliver equality to the women of New York.”
