DiPietro To Host SAFE Act Informational Session

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) has announced today that he will be hosting a SAFE Act informational session on Saturday, May 11 at the Iroquois Middle School Auditorium. The event will run from 10 a.m. until noon and is open to the public. Assemblyman DiPietro will speak along with invited guests, Congressman Chris Collins, New York State Senator Patrick Gallivan, Erie County Sherriff Tim Howard, Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs, and others.

“Despite my vocal opposition and the lack of any public discourse or debate, the New York State Government passed the SAFE Act,” DiPietro said. “I seek to inform my constituents on what the law currently states, and how they can comply with the letter of the law. I hope to see as many law-abiding firearm owners and sportsmen as possible take advantage of this event and better learn their rights.”

Assemblyman DiPietro has authored Assembly bill 6238, authorizing a full repeal of the SAFE Act, and 6387 to amend the SAFE Act in a way that would allow firearms owners to opt-in to being in a public database rather than opting-out of the database.
