DiPietro: No Bills, No Session, No Leadership From Majority

A statement delivered by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C – East Aurora)

Earlier this week, my colleagues and I came to Albany as planned for legislative session. Instead, we sat in a half-empty chamber waiting for the Majority to come out of conference with a new speaker. It took them five days and a five-hour meeting to decide the current speaker, Sheldon Silver, couldn’t continue in that capacity post-arrest. We’ve been in session a month, and the Majority doesn’t know who’s in charge or who should be in charge. We’ve canceled three session days, and we haven’t voted on a single bill heading into February. It’s not business as usual in the Assembly. The people of this state deserve better than what they’re getting.
