DiPietro Signs On To Legislation Barring Sex Offenders From Living Near Schools, Parks, Daycares

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C – East Aurora) has signed on as a sponsor to Assembly Bill A.3134, which would restrict sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a school, childcare facility, or park. The New York Court of Appeals recently ruled that the state is the only body that can craft such legislation.

“There is nothing more important to a parent than the well-being and safety of their child,” DiPietro said. “This legislation will ensure that necessary precautions are taken when sex offenders re-enter society. Since the courts have ruled that only the state has the power to effectuate this change, we must seize this opportunity and make this 1,000-foot prohibited zone a reality for our children. I know parents will sleep easier knowing this law is in place.”
