DiPietro-Sponsored Workplace Protections Clears Assembly; Heads To Gov.’s Desk

A statement by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora)

I was pleased to see Assembly Bill 5360, of which I am a sponsor, pass the Assembly unanimously. The legislation amends the law to protect workers from sexual harassment regardless of the size of the workplace. Currently, if the business has fewer than four employees, they cannot file complaints with the state. This bill was held up over the last two years, as it was coupled with more controversial measures. Over the last two years, I have fought tirelessly to bring this legislation to the floor because of how overwhelmingly supported it was. While the delay was a setback, I am very proud of the work my colleagues and I performed today in finally righting this wrong. The women of New York deserve these workplace protections regardless of the size of the business that employs them.
