DiPietro: We Demand Accountability For Our Tax Dollars In La Guardia Project

A statement by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora)

“The tax dollars that go into rebuilding La Guardia Airport and the Tappan Zee Bridge aren’t just coming from New York City, they’re coming from upstate and Western New York, and we deserve some accountability. Gov. Cuomo’s focus continues to be on restoring downstate infrastructure without a financial plan, and, therefore, without accountability. These are major multi-billion dollar projects being started without any oversight.

“The governor must release a comprehensive financial plan so the people and the Legislature can provide input on this project. As a member of the Assembly Committee on Transportation, I have yet to see any such details for either the Tappan Zee Bridge or the La Guardia overhaul. I also encourage the governor to take a drive through upstate and look at our infrastructure, so we can double down on the efforts to repair the roads, bridges and airports located north of Westchester. Infrastructure repair isn’t just a NYC problem, it’s a problem everywhere, which is why I continually call for additional CHIPS funding each year at budget time.”
