Hawley Launches Petition To Protect Second Amendment

Assemblyman pushes for repeal of misguided legislation

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C-Batavia) recently launched an online petition calling for the repeal of the misguided gun control legislation forced into law in January. The assemblyman has received an immense amount of negative feedback from constituents, not only on the bill, but about the way that the legislation was pushed through without public input or review.

“The people of this state were left out of the discussion on gun control, and this petition is meant to give them some input,” said Hawley. “Rather than working to prevent violent crime in our communities, the NY SAFE Act was a shortsighted political ploy that served only to make headlines. Law-abiding citizens have the right to participate in the legislative process, especially when it comes to issues as important as public safety and Second Amendment rights. I hope that our concerned local citizens will take this opportunity to make their voices heard.”
