"Children's exposure to unnecessary risk of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and neglect can and must be addressed at the state, community and neighborhood level. Child abuse and neglect is a significant and complex problem in the state and the nation. It crosses cultural, ethnic and socio-economic lines; exists within all religions and occurs at all levels of education," said Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, who authored a resolution that would proclaim April 2018 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the State of New York.
