Tague Slams Cuomo for Flip Flop on Phase IV Reopening of Gyms

Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) and his colleagues are standing up for fitness center operators and customers in a letter they penned to the governor. Tague is outraged that the reopening of gyms has been pushed past Phase IV of the state’s reopening plan and is calling for the governor to reverse course and reopen gyms as regions of the state enter Phase IV.

“The governor has moved the goal posts yet again, leaving gym operators helpless as the plans to reopen they’ve been counting on have fallen through,” said Tague. “This isn’t about people being kept from getting their beach bodies; this is about keeping family businesses that communities have come to rely upon for fitness and therapy from disappearing forever. Not everybody can afford a fully kitted personal home gym in their taxpayer funded mansion like our governor, and fitness is crucial to a healthy immune system. These gyms are the livelihoods of families, and we know what we can do to reopen them safely, so I demand the governor keep his word and allow gyms to reopen during Phase IV.”
