Brook-Krasny Brings New York’s Atrocious Tax Climate to Forefront

At a press conference in honor of tax day, Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island) brought New York’s lackluster tax climate and economic outlook to the forefront. According to the 2023 edition of “Rich States, Poor States” published by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), New York ranks last in economic outlook once again.

“Last time I voted for a state budget, about nine years ago, it was roughly $84 billion less expensive. We’ve increased our state spending 37% in less than ten years – no wonder the state has to tax people to death,” Brook-Krasny said. “Between property, school, income, sales, excise and many other taxes, one can easily see why more affordable states like Florida and Texas are gaining population and New York is hemorrhaging residents left and right. We have an unwarranted tax and spend addiction in New York and that must change in order to reverse our troubling economic trends.”
