Assemblywoman Amy Paulin Joins the New York State Assembly Asian Pacific American Task Force

Albany, NY – New York State Assemblywoman and Health Committee Chair Amy Paulin (D-Westchester) is proud to announce her appointment to the New York State Assembly Asian Pacific American Task Force. Representing a district where 11.17% of the population is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), Assemblywoman Paulin is committed to advocating for the needs and priorities of the AAPI community in her district and across the state.

“I am honored to join the New York State Assembly Asian Pacific American Task Force and stand alongside my colleagues in advocating for the needs of AAPI New Yorkers,” said Assemblywoman Paulin. “The AAPI community is a vital part of my district and our state, and I look forward to working on legislation and budget initiatives that will support their well-being and success.”

New York’s AAPI Task Force was established in 2017 to address critical issues affecting the AAPI community, including healthcare disparities, economic development, mental health awareness, and combating hate crimes. The task force serves as a platform for legislators to engage with advocacy organizations and community leaders to ensure that AAPI voices are heard in state government.

“Joining this task force allows me to bring forward policies and legislation that reflect the priorities of the AAPI residents in my district,” Assemblywoman Paulin added. “From addressing healthcare inequities to ensuring proper representation in government, it’s an essential step towards equity and inclusion.”

Assembly Member Grace Lee (D-Manhattan), Co-Chair of the NYS Asian Pacific American Task Force and a prominent advocate for AAPI issues, welcomed Assemblywoman Paulin to the task force, stating, “I am thrilled to have Assemblywoman Paulin join us in this important work. Her dedication to public service and her commitment to representing all constituents in her district will strengthen our collective efforts to advocate for AAPI communities across New York.”

“As we continue to address the challenges facing AAPI New Yorkers, having strong allies and representatives like Assemblywoman Paulin is instrumental to ensuring that the community receives the attention and resources it deserves,” said Westchester County Legislator David Imamura. “Her co-sponsorship of A.4638/S.3334 and support for the pilot program in Westchester County demonstrate her commitment to expanding AAPI history education. While the bill provides schools with the option to include AAPI curriculum, her advocacy helps ensure that this important history reaches more students. Additionally, the pilot program in two schools within her district is a significant step toward increasing awareness and representation in education.”

“I look forward to serving on the task force and contributing to its mission of fostering dialogue and creating solutions that benefit AAPI individuals and families in my district and across the state,” said Paulin, “and working towards a more inclusive and representative New York.”
