Statement from Assemblywoman Amy Paulin on Governor Hochul's Veto of A.9718b
January 2, 2025
"I am disappointed with the Governor's veto of A.9718b, which would require healthcare facilities to implement a pressure ulcer (bedsore) prevention program. With the right resources, facilities have the ability to prevent pressure ulcers and the added pain for patients. Pressure ulcers are not an inevitable consequence of limited mobility, they are a failure of care. The program proposed by my bill would create a systematic approach to prevention, training healthcare providers to be proactive against pressure ulcers. I remain committed to protecting vulnerable patients and raising awareness about the serious health risks posed by pressure ulcers."
