Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I’m honored to be your legislator working in Westchester and Albany on your behalf.

Each year, my central focus is legislating — authoring and passing bills that improve people’s lives. I work with colleagues, advocates, and constituents to build coalitions and fight for meaningful progress.

The 2025 session was another extremely productive year. I was proud once again to be the top bill-passer in the Assembly, with 38 of my bills passing both houses — more than any other legislator. In the weeks ahead, I’ll be sharing a few highlights with you through a series of emails focused on key areas of impact.

Today, I’m proud to begin with six bills that protect and uplift New York’s older adults, ensuring they receive the care, dignity, and support they deserve:

🛑 A.565 – Stopping the spread of for-profit hospice care that prioritizes profits over compassionate end-of-life treatment.

📋 A.924 – Streamlining Medicare Savings Program enrollment so low-income seniors can automatically receive the benefits they’re entitled to.

🏡 A.925 – Improving transparency in assisted living facilities so families can make better-informed decisions.

🏘️ A.1464 – Encouraging the growth of senior housing by reforming the regulatory framework for Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

🏥 A.1988 – Promoting age-friendly hospitals and health systems to ensure care is tailored to older adults.

⚖️ A.1365 – Requiring nursing homes to plan for dignified handling of deceased residents during public health emergencies — a lesson we learned painfully during COVID-19.

Two of these bills — A.924 and A.925 — have already been signed into law. The remaining four are now on the Governor’s desk. Together, they represent a major step forward in building a safer, more respectful, and more supportive system for our aging population.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of my work. I look forward to sharing more highlights with you soon. And as your representative in the Assembly, I always want to hear your views on these and any other issues of concern. Here's a look back at some of the wonderful moments I've shared with seniors across my district this year - I cherish spending time with them, hearing their stories, and being their voice in Albany. and I'm so proud to fight for legislation that supports them.
