What should have been a night of joy and celebration for Jews around the world has been overshadowed by the tragic shooting of Jewish people celebrating the first night of Hanukkah on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. I am heartbroken by this violence and by the relentless targeting of Jews around the world simply for who they are. We must continue to work toward a future in which people can live openly, celebrate their faith, and gather in peace without fear.
