Assemblywoman Amy Paulin Insists on Accountability from the MTA

Assemblywoman Paulin continues to push for accountability from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the delays experienced on the Metro-North New Haven line this winter.

After urging from Paulin, the Assembly Standing Committee on Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions held a public hearing regarding the MTA’s plans for preventing future interruptions in service. At the hearing, Paulin learned that the MTA is working closely with the governor of Connecticut to update the fleet and infrastructure of the New Haven line. In fact, 380 news cars have already been purchased and Connecticut has set aside $250 million for future updates.

It will take time to make the necessary updates, and next winter’s severe weather may still result in delays, but rest assured that the MTA is aware of the problem and working hard to resolve it.
