Assemblyman Santabarbara Honors USCGA Regimental Commander Alejandro Christopher with NYS Assembly Citation

In a moment of pride for Amsterdam and the entire Capital Region, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara presented a New York State Assembly Citation to Alejandro Christopher upon his graduation from the United States Coast Guard Academy.

A native of Amsterdam, NY, Alejandro Christopher has distinguished himself through remarkable academic, athletic, and military accomplishments. He graduated from Amsterdam High School while simultaneously earning an associate degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College. A standout athlete and leader, Alejandro was recruited to the United States Coast Guard Academy, where he continued to rise – both on the football field and within the Corps of Cadets.

Alejandro’s achievements culminated in his appointment as Regimental Commander, the highest- ranking cadet in the nation at the Coast Guard Academy. Assemblyman Santabarbara recognized this historic accomplishment with a formal citation from the New York State Assembly.

“Today, I’m filled with pride to recognize someone I’ve watched grow into an extraordinary young leader – Alejandro Christopher,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “He hasn’t just graduated from one of the most prestigious military institutions in the country—he’s done so as the top cadet. That’s a testament to his work ethic, his character, and the values instilled in him by his family and his hometown. Alejandro is an inspiration to us all.”

The citation reads in part:

“WHEREAS, Alejandro Christopher’s accomplishments bring great pride to his family, community, and the State of New York… I hereby recognize and honor USCGA Regimental Commander Alejandro Christopher upon his graduation from the United States Coast Guard Academy.”

Alejandro’s journey from Amsterdam to national leadership is a powerful reminder of the potential that exists in every New York Community. Assemblyman Santabarbara, himself a U.S. Army Reserve veteran, emphasized the importance of public service and investing in the next generation of leaders.
