- Assemblyman Santabarbara joined Andy Gilpin, Associate Executive Director of CAPTAIN Community Human Services in the City of Gloversville to announce the expansion of their services to combat homelessness in Fulton and Montgomery Counties, made possible by state funding from through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). The grant will provide $162,955 annually for the next five years and will allow the organization add new staff to seek out runaway and homeless youth, connect them with available resources and help them find stable housing.

- Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbarbara joined representatives from the Amsterdam Elks, Amsterdam Girl Scout Troop 2281 and troop leaders, and parents and family members for a recognition ceremony honoring Cadettes Regan Beck, Amy Brittain and Abigail Pettica on their Girl Scout Silver Award achievement, the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve.
For their Silver Award project they came up with an idea for an artwork project called Project Keep Swimming that would re-paint the restrooms at the Amsterdam City Pool, raising funds for the paint and supplies and put in 337 combined hours to get it done. Special messages and positive quotes like Create Your Own Sunshine and When life throws a shark at you, just keep swimming! were designed in the artwork to help build confidence in others. - Assemblyman Santabarbara visits a Transitions class in progress during his tour.
People like my son, Michael, who live with autism, face unique challenges; however, that shouldnt prevent them from realizing the American Dream, said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, chair of the NY State Assemblys sub-Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorders. Getting through college can be a stressful experience for anybody, let alone those living with a disability.
