Assemblyman Santabarbara: Empire State Trail is Complete!
Throughout the unprecedented challenges we’ve faced this year, one of the few sources of comfort and stability we’ve been able to maintain is our relationship with the great outdoors, and all the natural beauty our great state has to offer. The completion of the historic Empire State Trail will not only offer another safe way for people to enjoy the outdoors during the pandemic but will also help link previously disconnected areas in our diverse region, foster the growth of new businesses and encourage tourism along the way, like in our upstate cities of Amsterdam and Schenectady.
The Empire State Trail actually runs from New York City through the Hudson and Champlain Valleys to Canada, and from Albany to Buffalo along the Erie Canal. These routes are ideal for walkers, hikers, runners, cross-country skiers, cyclists, and more. Overall, 180 miles of the trails were created to connect over 400 miles in twenty areas all around the state. The opening of the Empire State Trail gives residents an opportunity to visit different areas, patronize businesses and engage in health outdoor activities with their families.
Stay safe, your friend, Angelo.
