DiPietro: Developmental Disabilities’ Funding Restored
Today, Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) voted in favor of restoring $90 million in funding to the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
“These funds were callously cut in the budget, and my colleagues and I stood up to protest the ‘three men in a room’ to have these cuts restored,” DiPietro said. “To attempt to balance the budget on the backs of those with developmental disabilities is despicable. Thanks to the pressure applied by this conference, the media, and the people affected by these careless cuts, we have restored the funding. While I wish the OPWDD had this type of support the first time through, I am glad we have finally righted this wrong.”
