DiPietro: Ethics Reform Not Mentioned During Speaker Heastie’s First Week
A statement delivered by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C – East Aurora)
February 11, 2015
A lot of priorities were laid out last week when the Assembly Majority finally replaced Sheldon Silver with Speaker Carl Heastie. Specifically, we were told there would be a new focus on ethics reform to prevent our Chamber from being embarrassed again on the national scale by men of low character. I am very disappointed by this week’s legislative priorities, and feel that, as each week passes after Silver’s arrest, the momentum across the aisle continues to fade. We have to pass legislation like the Public Officers Accountability Act, and we have to do it now.
