DiPietro Calls for Full Bail Reform Repeal

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) attended a press conference this morning alongside Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) and the Assembly Minority Conference to call for the full repeal of the bail reform measures from last year. DiPietro stands with his peers to prevent events like the hit and run on Christmas Eve, which resulted in the death of a mother of three and the release of a man last week who shot and killed his girlfriend in front of their 4-year-old daughter by sponsoring legislation (A.8855) to protect all New Yorkers.

“My heart is breaking for these families who have been so wrongfully harmed,” DiPietro said. “Their pain and loss can be placed solely at the feet of the State Majority politicians who flat out refuse to repeal this disastrous law. Every day that goes by, every criminal that is released is another beaten innocent, another murdered driver; we cannot allow the Majority politicians to destroy the law and order that protect each and every one of us. They must repeal the law now, before another drop of blood is shed or an innocent pedestrian is assaulted.”
