“Today the Assembly Majority called a special session to pass what they claim are measures to revoke Gov. Cuomo’s executive power. Their characterization is an absolute lie.

“They want you to believe they are working across the aisle to hold Gov. Cuomo accountable for the disasters his unchecked powers have caused. What they aren’t telling you is that Majority legislators cut a deal with the governor so they could get a news story and he could keep ruling like a king.

“This bill is a farce and extends Gov. Cuomo’s emergency powers indefinitely.

“We have been subject to the rule of a single man without proper checks on power for over a year because Majority members refuse to hold the governor accountable. If we don’t take action and remove these extraordinary emergency powers, we are turning our back on our state constitution and our democratic system of government.
