Assemblywoman Lupardo and Municipal Leaders Highlight Water Grants for Endicott and Vestal

Funds will be used for new water source development and infrastructure improvements

Endicott, NY – The Village of Endicott and Town of Vestal will be receiving much needed support from NYS to improve water quality in their respective communities. Assemblywoman Lupardo was joined by Endicott Mayor Linda Jackson to highlight over $5.4 million in state funds were awarded to the two municipalities from the Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) for Water Infrastructure Improvement (WIIA) grants to support efforts to improve water quality.

The Village of Endicott will be receiving two grants. One for $4,386,131 which will allow for new water source development at Well #32 to replace water wells #5 and #28. According to a 2019 report from the Endicott Municipal Water Department, both wells were rated as highly susceptible to many contaminants including bacteria, pesticides, and metals. The Village also received a second grant of $75,295 for infrastructure improvements.

The Town of Vestal received a grant for $991,610 to replace the Old Vestal Road & Bunn Hill Road water main. This will provide higher quality water to the service area and will improve safety by providing better water flow for use in case of fires.

Grants will be disbursed to awardees once certain conditions are met, and it is approved by the EFC Board of Directors. The full list of awardees and project descriptions can be found on EFC's website, where you may also view an interactive map of the projects.
